About Holmesdale CC Junior Cricket Section

DRAFT OLD VERSION LIVE
The Holmesdale Junior cricket section was formed in 1983 by four enthusiastic members, Roger Cruttenden, Snowy Whitehead, Peter Churchill and Mike Dayer-Smith. In the first year there were about 20 children attending on a Saturday morning. Since then much has moved forward with the introduction of Easter Coaching, Tuesday, Friday evening coaching and the Summer Camps and the Club now coach over 350 children a year, making Holmesdale perhaps the largest junior section in the County!

Holmesdale CC's Mission StatementTo develop and engender a love for the game of cricket amongst all those residing in Sevenoaks and the surrounding areas. Assisting all its members in realising their fullest potential as cricketers. Holmesdale CC principally fulfils this aim by running an extensive junior coaching and fixture programme for both girls and boys (aged 5-15) throughout the summer; operating three open-age sides playing competitive cricket in the Kent League on Saturdays; and, a Sunday U21 Development Side.

An outstanding example of Junior and Senior cricket

If you're looking for a fun, safe and accredited cricket club for your son or daughter to learn more about cricket...? Then look no further, Holmesdale Cricket Club offers ECB accredited coaching for children aged 5 - 15 yrs old. All Summer coaching takes place at our picturesque Montreal Park ground on the A25 in Riverhead or at Seal and across the road at Amherst School for our 5-7 yrs olds.
Our coaches are qualified and accredited through the ECB and international bodies. To offer the highest quality and consistency of coaching we reimburse expenses our coaches for their time, and sponsor Holmesdale players and parents to undertake their coaching badges and courses to continue to bring fresh coaching talent through the club.

The Junior coaching programmes courses we offer are a pathway to playing for Holmesdale within our own and local clubs U9 & U11 annual festivals and our junior performance teams who play in the Invicta league and ECB national cups, at the ages of U11 (A&B), U13 (A&B) & U15 (A).
Holmesdale is a family orientated club, run by volunteers. All the membership, coaching programme fees and donations go back into the club to improve our facilities and cricketing opportunities for our members. As such we are always in need of new volunteers, and welcome with open arms Mums, Dads, Grandparents and friends who would like to get involved. Whether this be supporting coaching, umpiring, scoring or just lending a hand, don't hesitate to get in touch with us if you can offer help.

At Holmesdale Cricket Club the welfare of our players, coaches, parents and spectators of all ages is paramount. The club has one appointed welfare officer (Laurie Hudson), who is introduced to all players, members and (when necessary parents or guardians). All players (and parents) are invited to raise any concerns over the welfare of any player at Holmesdale Cricket Club and any concerns are handled sensitively. We have a vast number of ECB qualified coaches who coach across our Junior programmes and possess up-to-date DBS checks, First Aid and safeguarding qualifications and certificates. All age group team managers are DBS checked and First Aid trained. All senior members (those over the age of 18) have to sign a self-disclosure form on an annual basis to confirm that they are legally allowed to participate in sports involving children.

In addition, interim Chairman, Mark Epps, and the 1st, 2nd and 3rd XI captains are the appointed people within the Senior Cricket section for players to voice any concerns to. Again, matters are considered in a sensitive manner. For more information and the clubs policies relating to safe guarding and protecting children please visit our club website pages
